Biography

Curtis Small is a Special Collections librarian at University of Delaware. In his role as Coordinator of Public Services, he is responsible for overseeing the reference, instruction and exhibition programs for his department. He also serves on the project team of the Colored Conventions Project (CCP), a Digital Humanities project at University of Delaware. CCP documents the largest 19th century political movement of African Americans. Besides Digital Humanities, Small’s research interests include African American literature, book history and print culture. He is the current co-chair of the Diversity Committee of RBMS (the Rare Book and Manuscript Section of ACRL). He and the rest of the committee members are working to expand diversity and inclusion within Special Collections. A recent project of the committee is RBMS Diversity Stories, which is capturing the voices of people of color working in special collections and archival settings.
