Visit once during your time here to pick up great coffee as well as tea, hot chocolate, apple cider, or one of their fantastic pastries or desserts. The walls feature prints by Mauricio Lasansky. If you want a keepsake from your trip to Iowa City, we recommend one of Java Houses\u2019 hand-made mugs.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.prairielights.com\/cafe\"><strong>Prairie Lights<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> The Caf\u00e9 on the second floor of the bookstore is the place for Writers\u2019 Workshop folks to see and be seen. Browse literary journals while you wait for your coffee (or your alcoholic drink!) to be made for you. Don\u2019t miss the art on the walls, either; Prairie Lights\u2019 caf\u00e9 features a rotating array of works by area artists.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TSpoons-101723166648\/\"><strong>T.Spoons<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0T.Spoons is a small local coffee shop in the Old Capitol Mall used by faculty and students for meetings and as a cozy study space. While I\u2019d advise steering clear of their hot chocolate, I\u2019m a fan of their other food and drink offerings.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/downtowniowacity.com\/listings\/cortado-coffee-cafe\/\"><strong>Cortado Coffee and Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> The newest coffee shop on the Iowa City scene, Cortado is inspired by its owners\u2019 Mediterranean traditions. Check out their espresso and their Middle Eastern food selection.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.starbucks.com\/store-locator\/store\/13924\/iowa-city-burlington-clinton-228-s-clinton-street-iowa-city-ia-522404028-us\"><strong>Starbucks<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> Can\u2019t leave this chain off the list. While we\u2019d love you to patronize one of our local businesses, Starbucks is a perennial favorite. Just don\u2019t assume you\u2019ll get a table here, our downtown location is quite small.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.highgroundcafe.com\/\"><strong>High Ground Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a><strong>:<\/strong> Outside of the Ped Mall area, it\u2019s a short walk to High Ground Caf\u00e9 on Market Street. But those who make the five minute walk will be rewarded. This coffee shop not only has great coffee, but a good assortment of sandwiches, smoothies, and beer.
